I'm back

In general: I'm back from Dresden, where the national meeting of the members of the Community of the Cross of Nails took place. (i went there for the first time)
We of course came from all over Germany and our speaial guest where from Cincinatti, USA (Jim Diamont) and Coventry,GB (Simon Monaghan).
I had a wonderful (if sometimes wearisome) three days. The city is beautiful, and I will definitively go back some time to see more. The people I met have been lovely and it's nice to make new connections all over the country.

On Friday we had to deal with all the administrative stuff. The secretary - that I've known for 5 years now - asked me to run for one of the 12 positions in the - what we call - "Leitungskreis" (people that decide substitiutionally for the whole national community). She wanted to have younger people in it, so I said yes. And was elected. Yai! :)
But then, the "Leitungskreis" had to decide on three of them that would make the Board, and after 5 minutes or so I was suddenly in it. So I'm now a member of the Board of the German CCN.

And on writing: Not much got done, but I will sit down today and on Wednesday to achieve my October goal.

(About Half Month) Progress

This month has been real slow.

I'm 1400 words behind. I write a bit more than my planned words every day, but that's not enough.

To make matters worse, I'm up to my nose in work (I know why that is and why I cannot do anything against it at the moment; but I won't mention it, as you never know who reads this)

Last weekend of October I'm in Dresden, so no work will be done then, but the week after that I'm off work, and hopefully, hopefully, I will be able to make up my deficit.

Progress

Sheesh, it's already 20:43 (oh, sorry, 8:43 pm) and I haven't written anything today.

I usually plan to write between 7 and 8, that's the best time for me. Now I'm just plain tired...

And my word meter is not completely accurate, as my October plan has not the same word amount for every day, so I'm really 700 words behind. *sigh*

So, no real news on the progress just (another) rant.

Reading

Yes, I do get to read :)

Normally, when I buy books, I pay a bit attention to how thick they are. I love fat books, but they are rather unpractical when you want to read them on the bus or elsewhere, and realy pull you down when you have them in your bag. So I buy fat and slimmer books almost in the same quantity, so that I have the fat book for at home and the slimmer one when I'm on the road.

But at the moment when I get home I cannot part with the book I'm rading currently. That would be "Jack, Knave and Fool" by Bruce Alexander. But I really do not want to read it at home, so I have more of it when I'm on my way. I noticed that this the fifth book of a serial, and I will definitively buy the other four. The story takes place in London in 1771 and every time the first-person narrator walks along The Strand or St. James Street or through Covent Garden, I always think "May he have seen Lord John?"
It's crazy really. But I cannot help myself...

Oh, and the book I have bought to read at home is "Illumination" by Terry McGarry.

A Monster

... this way comes.

It has fingers that lure the thoughts out of your head, a voice that makes you think of other things and a face that sends you screaming. This monster has a name: Writer's Block.

Dear Godness, I had one week off and I promised not to pressure myself to much, but 3400 instead of 4300 words?
And now, now I want to sit down and write something, and I'm remembering that I have to do this and that and... I'm finding all kinds of excuses not to write.

Isn't there a cure against monsters in the wardrobe or behind curtains? That might help here too.
Laughter? (I need to watch Monsters Inc. again, I love that movie *g*)

Free Burma

I have no idea if this helps any, but here we go:





When I got up today, the news reader said that everyone who wants to support the monks is to wear red shirts/pullovers etc. today. Well, I hadn't already been dressed then, so I'm wearing red today.
We've been at IKEA's earlier on, and I don't know if the people wearing red did it because of the appeal, but one family cerntainly did, as all five of them wore red. That was too much of a coincidence...

Characters

Everywhere I look people are finding or trying to find pictures of actors or musicians or else that look like their characters.
I googled a bit and found two German actors that come close to what I picture Ruwen and Taisha to be like.

Layout

I need your opinion here:

Should I change the layout in regards to colour? Is the white/light grey on black too hard on the eyes?

I've noticed that a lot of you (addressing those whose blogs I read) use black script on light colours.

New Month, New Goals

As I've two weeks off work in October, I'm planning on writing a bit more than the average 10,000 words.
As usual, we'll see how that works out.

But I'm also planning on enjoying these days off, as I really need them, so I won't pressure myself too much.
